Out in Paisley, a property owner off State Road 42 had a field to clear and no simple way to deal with what came off it. Downed limbs, old fencing, and a couple of piles that had been sitting at the tree line for years. There is no curb to set a bin against out here, and no tidy driveway either, just open ground and a long two track running back from the road. How Do You Place a Dumpster in an Open Field?
You read the ground before you read the map. A driveway gives you concrete to sit on. The first thing the driver does is walk the area and look for the high, firm ground, usually an old road or a path that has been driven before. That is where the bin goes, because ground that held a truck once will hold a trailer now.
Access is the other half of it. Out past State Road 42 the approach can be a long sandy lane with a soft shoulder, so the truck needs a straight run in and enough room to turn around without leaving the packed strip. We set the bin with its open side facing the work, not the fence, and leave clearance for a loader or a tractor if the owner is running one.
